Construction

The Construction pathway prepares students for hands-on careers in the skilled trades, infrastructure, and technical construction fields. Students can explore areas such as electrical work, HVAC, welding, commercial diving, surveying, and mapping. Through practical training and technical coursework, students build the problem-solving and job-ready skills needed to pursue certifications, continued education, and careers across construction, utilities, engineering, marine, and industrial environments.

Civil Surveying & Mapping Technology

Interested in technology, the outdoors, and seeing how land becomes the foundation for roads, buildings, and other projects? Civil Surveying & Mapping Technology prepares students with the technical and hands-on skills needed to measure, map, analyze, and manage land and geographic information.

Students gain practical experience collecting and interpreting field data, taking precise measurements, creating maps, and solving technical problems using tools and technologies commonly used in the surveying and mapping industry. Graduates develop skills that can lead to career opportunities in land surveying, mapping, construction, engineering, infrastructure development, and other related fields.

Commercial Diving

Interested in taking your technical skills beneath the surface? Commercial Diving prepares students for hands-on careers performing underwater inspection, maintenance, repair, and other specialized work on structures such as offshore rigs, pipelines, bridges, dams, and vessels.

As the only state-funded, accredited commercial diving program in Louisiana, the program combines classroom instruction with practical diving experience focused on underwater skills, safety practices, occupational skills, and workplace readiness. Students can earn a Certificate of Technical Studies in Commercial Diving in as little as seven months and prepare for career opportunities in offshore and inland diving, underwater construction and inspection, marine operations, and other commercial diving fields.

Electrician

Interested in a hands-on career working with the electrical systems that power homes, businesses, and industry? The Electrician program prepares students with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment, and systems.

Through hands-on training, students develop skills in electrical theory, wiring, safety practices, electrical systems, and troubleshooting while preparing for opportunities in a growing skilled-trades field. Graduates can pursue careers in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work and build the experience needed to advance within the electrical profession.

Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration

Enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and figuring out how mechanical systems work? The Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC) program prepares students with the hands-on technical skills needed to install, service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.

Students gain practical experience working with the equipment and systems used to keep homes, businesses, and other facilities comfortable and operating efficiently. Graduates can pursue career opportunities in residential and commercial HVAC and refrigeration, including roles such as HVAC apprentices, installers, maintenance technicians, and service technicians.

Welding

Enjoy working with your hands and creating, building, or repairing things? The Welding program prepares students with the hands-on technical skills needed to join, cut, shape, and repair metal for projects used across a wide range of industries.

Students gain practical experience with welding and cutting processes such as shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding (TIG), gas metal arc welding (MIG), flux-cored arc welding, oxyfuel and plasma arc cutting, as well as blueprint reading and weld symbols. Graduates can pursue welding career opportunities in construction, manufacturing, transportation, shipbuilding, oil and gas, pipelines, refineries, power generation, aerospace, and other industrial settings.
