Career Ignite Expo
Bringing Educators and Industry Together
Project Overview
The Career Ignite Expo brings career exploration to life by giving middle school students an opportunity to discover careers through interactive, hands-on experiences. Students engage directly with employers, educators, and industry professionals while exploring the skills, technologies, and career pathways connected to high-demand industries across the region.
Rather than simply hearing about careers, students get the opportunity to see, experience, and ask questions about the possibilities available to them.
The Need
Career decisions begin long before students graduate from high school. Early exposure helps students understand the range of available careers, recognize how their interests and strengths align with the workforce, and make more informed decisions about courses, CTE pathways, dual enrollment, and future education.
Career Ignite provides students with an opportunity to explore careers before they are expected to choose a pathway.
How It Works
Career Ignite transforms traditional career exploration into an interactive experience. Regional employers, education partners, and industry representatives create hands-on activities and demonstrations that allow students to experience different careers and learn directly from the professionals who work in them.
Students rotate through career and industry experiences, ask questions, interact with equipment and technology, and learn about the education, skills, and credentials connected to different occupations.
Regional Partners
Career Ignite is made possible through collaboration among Acadiana Workforce Solutions, Region IV schools and school systems, South Louisiana Community College, regional employers, industry partners, workforce and economic development organizations, and other community partners committed to helping students discover future career opportunities.
The initiative is supported by Acadiana Workforce and SoLAcc.
Outcomes & Impact
Career Ignite expands students' awareness of careers available in their region while helping them connect their interests, education, and future opportunities.
By bringing education and industry together in one interactive environment, the Expo also creates opportunities for employers to engage directly with the region's future workforce and for educators to reinforce career exploration beyond the event.
